Origins of Personal Development Coaching
Coaching in its true sense has existed since the late 1880’s, when it was directly related to sports. During the early 1970’s, Thomas J Leonard significantly contributed to the development of personal coaching, making it the success it is today.
Personal Development Coaching evolved due to the influence of other practices, including Mentoring, Counselling, Psychology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Consultancy.
Personal Development Coaching was originally referred to as Life Coaching and has grown as an extremely credible field over the last twenty years in the U.K. It is fast emerging as a proven method to help people facilitate change, growth and development.
